Attestation
A school's tabulated record of every result it has had independently judged, for funders and regulators. It aggregates Codices without flattening them into a school-level grade, and it makes no claim of comparability with any other school.

Evaluator
An independent subject-matter expert who judges a pupil's work against the standard that pupil's own school set. They do not work for the school and deliberately do not know the pupil. JitGuru lists them and never ranks them — whether one meets your bar is your judgement, because your standard is the one that counts.

Codex
The record of one pupil's assessed work, written for that pupil and their family. It says what they demonstrated against the criteria their own school set, and names the evaluator who judged it — someone who does not work for the school. It is never a score and never a grade: where a school uses the four-level rubric, a Codex reads "Proficient", not "3".

Guide
A learning guide — the microschool sector's own word for a teacher. A guide works with the pupil and knows them, which is exactly why a guide is never the evaluator of that pupil's work. The two rosters are kept separate on purpose: that distance is what a result is claiming when it says it was independently adjudicated.
