A microschool can teach to a high standard and still have nothing to show for it that an outsider will accept. A standardized test is the usual answer, and it measures the wrong thing. JitGuru is the other answer: independent experts who judge your pupils' real work against your standard.
Here is the whole loop, in the order it happens. It takes six steps.
You post an opening for evaluators: the subject, the milestone, the pupils it covers, and the credentials you require of whoever judges it. JitGuru does not rank evaluators, score them, or filter them for you. Your standard is the standard — we are the noticeboard, not the examiner. If you require a background check, say so on the opening and the record comes to you from the issuing authority.
are subject-matter experts — teachers, practitioners, professionals. Their profile and track record travel with them to every school on the network. Where a school requires a background check, the evaluator has their police service or other authorized body send it to that school directly — JitGuru never holds it and never vouches for it. They browse openings and apply to the ones that fit their subject and their availability.
You see who applied, their qualifications, and what they have judged before. You pick. A pupil can draw a panel of several evaluators rather than one, and each member of that panel reviews the work independently — none of them can see another's conclusion.
The pupil submits a — a write-up, a recording, a build, a defense. The evaluator records what the pupil demonstrated against the criteria you wrote, in their own words. The rubric is yours; the judgment is theirs; neither is ours.
When several evaluators judge the same pupil, somebody has to turn several opinions into the single answer a mastery model needs. Every rule for doing that takes a pedagogical position — is five of nine a pass? does ambiguity default to fail? That position belongs to the school that set the standard, so you make the call and JitGuru records that you made it.
Each completed evaluation produces a : one pupil, one milestone, the evidence, and the independent expert who judged it. Those roll up into your school's — the record you hand a parent deciding whether to enroll, or a funder deciding whether to write the cheque. Its weight comes from the fact that you did not write it.
